Wasn’t sure if was going to write anything. I’ve been between jobs this week but trying to keep myself in the habit of weeknotes given I’ll need to keep them up in the new gig!
This week has mostly been.
- Stripping wallpaper. I wish there was some deep and meaningful life lesson I’ve learned from this. But it’s tedious, often more difficult than you expect and there always seems to be more to do. Huh…maybe there is a life lesson in there.
- Tidied the garage (a bit), managed to score some free shelving from a friend and turned the old fire door from the living room into a work surface for now. Getting there
- Spending time with the kids. The walk back from school in the pouring rain this afternoon with my three year old shuffling all the way wasn’t the highlight, but aside from that, some good times have been had.
- Catching up with friends, taking the opportunity to drop into Waterloo tea rooms, friends houses etc to chat life.
- Planning for more building work. Going through the process of getting approval from building control and realising my parents must know a bit about what I do when they pointed out that Cardiff council building control could be potential clients. There’s a whole case study in there, for another day.
- Trying to get refunds from places. Requesting a refund on the credit we have with our energy supplier. Cancelling the boiler service contract…that never actually serviced our boiler, and trying to resolve an ongoing mortgage fee query. It’s boring but potentially lucrative!
I start at Public Digital on Monday. Excited but also expecting to need to learn A LOT too.
Long read is one I spotted within about 30seconds after posting last weeks weeknotes. Reading it on the train I nodded along a lot. Hey Designers they’re gaslighting you goes deep the idea of ‘proving your value’ and how actually its much better to just get on with doing stuff, rather a whol extra song and dance about your ‘value’.
