Shwmae,

Dydd Gwyl Dewi Hapus i bawb.
Happy St David’s day to everyone.

Well if I don’t milk it today, then what’s the point!?

The saddest news of the day was that we discovered just before school that my daughter’s ‘Welsh Lady‘ costume (pretty much de rigour on St David’s day if you got to a Welsh medium school) was now too small, so had to improvise.

This week has been…

  • Drafting another blog post – this time of my fav pet subject prototyping, watch this space. Apparently the one I co-wrote with Katherine a couple of weeks ago went down well, most viewed on the site of 2023/24 so far.
  • As part of writing the blog post, I realised that quite a lot of my references are academic, which is unusual. One of the particular challenges with that is trying to find full text versions of the most interesting papers that I use. It made me ponder doing some kind of ‘blog post summaries’ of the academic literature I refer to the most, for those who haven’t had access to the paywalled stuff.
  • I’ve spent time in spreadsheets (and misusing Miro as a spreadsheet) to building the narrative around the quantifiable opportunity for a client if they scale some of our experiments. I always struggle a bit with this (partly getting the formulas right) but mostly thinking ‘surely they already know this. we’re just using their data’. That’s why the narrative and specific opportunities tied to it are important I guess.
  • I had quite a bit of follow up about my offer of coming to talk to design teams about prototyping. Looking forward to seeing where those go and how it works both in person and remotely with different sized teams especially.

I can hear children shouting, so I think its time to leave these. Never beat yourself up about short/no weeknotes. That’s not the point. Have good weekends 🙂
